![]() ![]() I have been using Logic for about six months straight now. If you have a Mac and make music this is the DAW you want.
![]() I also use Affinity Photo, and strongly suggest you do get both (they're both very affordable!). I recently posted 10 photos of my cat, using only PL4: you can see what it did for me with fairly little effort at: Get the Elite version as it has additions for perspective corrections where you can adjust image stretching etc really well, in addition to other stuff. It can also do misc stuff like bandaid touchup, mask drawing and effects, slider left-right (or both side by side or toggle between them) to see original vs modified etc, and a lot of stuff I've not learned. The image-wide editing of lots of things (brightness, contrast, saturation, noise reduction) is super easy and really effective in doing what you want with great results (for Canon raw or other stuff like M43 more grainy files as I've done both) and the noise reduction is really spectacular. I like to store the images in a nested file structure of my own making, and PL4 lets me do that. I've been thinking to get either DXO or Affinity.Ĭan you please go into a little more detail what you use each one for? And for someone who does not have any tool other than the ones free from Canon (I have an M50 for now), would it make sense to get both or does each one do pretty much the same thing as the other.Īlso, I'd like for there to be a way to use a slide, so that you can see the original photo and the modified photo at the same time, where the slide will reveal more of one version and the remaining view of the other as the user adjust the slide (not sure what that feature is called).Īnd also a feature where both versions can be seen, in full, at the same time.Īnd if not asking too much :), a way to toggle back and forth between the modified version and the original (this would allow me to see the image larger, and therefore in more detail, than when viewing both versions simultaneously).Īnd if not asking too much :), a way to toggle back and forth between the modified version and the original (this would allow me to see the image larger, and therefore in more detail, than when viewing both versions simultaneously).I shoot raw, and use DXO PL4 to rate the images, delete what I don't want, copy what I like so I can work on virtual copies of them. I'm really happy I got into it, and enjoy using it as my main ranking & easy overall editing tool, with Affinity Photo for anything else I might want to do. Well, for those of you with a R camera on the fence regarding getting DXO photolab or something else, I would strongly suggest you just go ahead and get the elite version at their sale price. ![]() ![]() Why bake the crust? We’ve found that pre-baking the crust gives the pie a jumpstart on caramelization-and caramelization is a good, tasty thing. How to make lemon icebox pie: Our version of lemon icebox pie (itself a riff of key lime pie) calls for an extra-buttery graham cracker crust that’s first partially baked before the filling is poured in. Don’t worry-it’s still an extremely easy pie to make, but if you’re looking for a truly no-bake lemon option, check out our lemon icebox cake. We set out to use the same technique for this pie, but as it turns out, we actually preferred the flavor and setting of baking. After a few hours, the cookies turn into a cake-like texture, and the whipped cream becomes firm and sliceable (hint hint: a cake!). Whipped cream and wafer cookies are layered, then frozen. Referencing the precursor to the modern refrigerator or freezer, an “icebox” cake doesn’t require any baking. ![]() If you’re wondering, “What is an icebox cake?”, we’ll explain. What is lemon icebox pie? We started this recipe attempting to use a similar technique as the classic icebox cake. They hold such a special place in our hearts that we thought, “Why not use that same technique for pie?” While this recipe didn’t exactly turn into the pie version of an icebox cake in terms of method, the result was more delicious than we could have imagined. These nostalgic desserts are not only super easy to make, but wildly impressive. While some classic desserts have fallen out of style, here at Delish, we believe that icebox cakes will always be in vogue. ![]() ![]() Looking for city planners to design a Tekkit metropolis layoutĬheck Details Old village plans by coltcoyote on deviantart Minecraft java editionMinecraft blueprints village house building plans houses castle deviantart medieval plan coltcoyote fortified kingdom designs another wip build crafts buildings Village minecraft mapMinecraft village ideas layout _ minecraft village ideas layout in 2020. You can collect resources during quests and use them to build out your base and craft better gear. Each quest takes place in one district only. Instead, it is divided into multiple small districts that are disconnected from each other. ![]() Each day has a main quest, after finishing it you use the Portal Generator to return to your base, here you can spend the evening to build new items and learn new skills from teammates, then go to bed, then wake up the next day and play another main quest. The game is divided into 25 days, basically the chapters. All teammates are met automatically in the story and you get a dialogue to recruit them or to send them away. Then you revive at the same day/quest when you died, you don’t need to replay the story. When you die you go to the “afterlife dimension” and spend Chernobylite to change any story decisions from earlier. You just need to watch out that you recruit all 4 optional teammates, but even if you miss this you can change your story choices retroactively whenever you die, so nothing is missable. Welcome to the Chernobylite Trophy Guide (Achievement Guide)! This is an incredibly easy and straightforward platinum because all trophies come automatically from the story. But you can keep exploring all map areas after the story and you can change your story decisions any time after dying or using the Radiation Chamber at your base.

Each of the five stages plays a key role in the hierarchy of our interface design systems. The five stages of atomic design are:Ītomic design is atoms, molecules, organisms, templates, and pages concurrently working together to create effective interface design systems.Ītomic design is not a linear process, but rather a mental model to help us think of our user interfaces as both a cohesive whole and a collection of parts at the same time. The periodic table of HTML elements by Josh Duck.īecause we’re starting with a similar finite set of building blocks, we can apply that same process that happens in the natural world to design and develop our user interfaces.Ītomic design is a methodology composed of five distinct stages working together to create interface design systems in a more deliberate and hierarchical manner. Josh Duck’s Periodic Table of HTML Elements beautifully articulates how all of our websites, apps, intranets, hoobadyboops, and whatevers are all composed of the same HTML elements. As it happens, our interfaces can be broken down into a similar finite set of elements. We discussed earlier how all matter in the universe can be broken down into a finite set of atomic elements. The atomic design methodologyīy now you may be wondering why we’re talking about atomic theory, and maybe you’re even a bit angry at me for forcing you to relive memories of high school chemistry class. Rae’s strategy of having students mind-numbingly balance tons of chemical equations worked, because I’m coming back to it all these years later for inspiration on how to approach interface design. This atomic theory means that all matter in the known universe can be broken down into a finite set of atomic elements:Īpparently Mr. Of course, I’m simplifying the incredibly rich composition of the universe, but the basic gist remains: atoms combine together to form molecules, which further combine to form organisms. These relatively complex structures can range from single-celled organisms all the way up to incredibly sophisticated organisms like human beings. Organisms are assemblies of molecules functioning together as a unit. These combinations of atoms take on their own unique properties, and become more tangible and operational than atoms. Molecules are groups of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds.(Yes, it’s true atoms are composed of even smaller bits like protons, electrons, and neutrons, but atoms are the smallest functional unit.) Each chemical element has distinct properties, and they can’t be broken down further without losing their meaning. Atoms are the basic building blocks of all matter. These molecules can combine further to form relatively complex organisms. In the natural world, atomic elements combine together to form molecules. In the example above, we see how hydrogen and oxygen combine together to form water molecules. If you’re like me, you may need a bit of a refresher to recall what a chemical equation looks like, so here you go:Īn example of a chemical equation showing hydrogen and oxygen atoms combining together to form a water molecule.Ĭhemical reactions are represented by chemical equations, which often show how atomic elements combine together to form molecules. Rae’s class had a reputation for being one of the hardest classes in school, largely because of an assignment that required students to balance hundreds upon hundreds of chemical equations contained in a massive worksheet. My high school chemistry class was taught by a no-nonsense Vietnam vet with an extraordinarily impressive mustache. As it turns out, loads of other fields such as industrial design and architecture have developed smart modular systems for manufacturing immensely complex objects like airplanes, ships, and skyscrapers.īut my original explorations kept creeping back to the natural world, which triggered memories of sitting at a rickety desk in my high school’s chemistry lab. Given this amazingly complex world we’ve created, it seemed only natural that other fields would have tackled similar problems we could learn from and appropriate. My search for a methodology to craft interface design systems led me to look for inspiration in other fields and industries. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here’s a few tips to speed up the performance of your website even further. ![]() ![]() There are many ways to improve the performance of your ASP.NET pages when looking at the speed at which the output is generated. Once the website is started and all the pages have been pre-compiled all that remains is the runtime performance, the speed at which output of the pages is generated that is. When the application is deployed to IIS it will get started directly and the custom startup provider gets invoked to preload the data required by the application.Ĭheck out the following link for more information: (VS.100).aspx#aspnet_core_services Runtime speed It allows developers to register a special provider that preloads data when the application is started. One of them is the always running option that’s new in ASP.NET 4. On top of the options provided here ASP.NET 4 offers more options to speed up the startup process of your web application. When you want to improve the speed of your website in a cold start scenario you’re better off buying a solid state disk and pre-compiling the ASP.NET web pages. Once one website has loaded these assemblies the next website doesn’t need to load them again, thus speeding up the startup process. It works best when shared libraries like the Microsoft Enterprise Library are installed as native images. Generating native images does speed up the website, but only by a very small amount. ![]() There’s no need to have a strong name on them, so the App_Web_xxxxx.dll file can also be installed as a native image. Generating native images is done by executing ngen.exe install on every assembly that exists in the bin folder of the website. NET assembly it gets compiled specifically for your computer so that the JIT compiler doesn’t have to do that on startup. While pre-compiling already improves startup times considerably there’s one extra step that you can take to make the website even faster. Also keep in mind that you use the –u switch otherwise the website cannot be updated with a new precompiled version and you will have to remove all files from the deployment and copy a new precompiled version in place. Once you have precompiled the website you can deploy the contents of the output directory to IIS.Ī big advantage here is the cut in boot times, the downside is that you need to do this each time a new version is deployed. This will pre-compile all the pages and place the results in the specified output directory. %windir%Microsoft.NETFrameworkv7aspnet_compiler.exe –v /VirtualPathToTheWebsite D:ProjectsSomeWebAppOutput -u The pre-compiling process can be done by executing the following command-line: There are basically two things that you can do to speed things up. This is a rather slow process with bigger pages, so the user may have to wait a couple of seconds before the page shows up. When a user first accesses a page that hasn’t been used for a while the page gets pre-compiled by the ASP.NET pre-compiler and then compiled to a native image by the JIT compiler. One of the biggest issues with ASP.NET pages are the startup times of the web application. I already explained a few to him, but I think it also makes a great blog post. I expected some kind of rant about how bad ASP.NET is and how fast PHP is, but instead of doing that he asked me if I could show him some tricks to make things run faster. He explained to me that they were all using ASP.NET and he clearly did not like the fact that they were. A few days ago I was talking to a network administrator that had some issues with his management websites. ![]() |
